USING THE FUTURE ON THE PRESENT
There’s no indication that David’s pain or circumstances have changed, so this final burst of praise is astonishing. David looks forward to a time when there will be no sickness, evil, or oppression, when all things will be put right. And Paul says that in some inexplicable but wonderful way our sufferings now are going to make that eventual glory even more brilliant and wonderful (2 Corinthians 4:16–18). If we believe in Christ this is a guaranteed inheritance that can’t be eaten by moths or stolen by time (Matthew 6:19– 25). When we receive healings and deliverances now, they are small windows into the great things to come.
Learn to look through those windows, cling to his promised salvation, and praise him. Prayer: Lord, I must learn to praise you—it is the only thing that will honor you and will fulfill me. “Therefore with my utmost art I will sing thee; And the cream of all my heart, I will bring thee.”60 Amen.
We are an organization that asks the question, "Why does the American church look so much like the world?"
