Day 1: The belt of truth
A belt’s main purpose in modern culture is to hold the pants up, yet from the aspect of a soldier it is much more important. Its function is to secure things to our clothing, a way to carry more than what we have pocket space for. For a soldier, it carries some of his most important tools. It acts as a way for him to attach containers to carry his tools. Truth is what secures our ability to distinguish between right and wrong, it sets a dividing line between what is good, wholesome, God-inspired. It points out what is wrong, false, and from the enemy. Truth enables trust because there is no illusion involved. Truth holds tools that allow us to carry out our orders given.
Far too often we leave without this belt and find ourselves stumbling over what we already have on. We have not secured our clothing or items to ourselves, and we are far from ready for battle. The enemy takes advantage of this disorganization and uses it to find gaps in our armor. Finding ourselves vulnerable to multiple and cunning attacks, we fall prey to the enemy’s advances scramble to find ways to hold our items.
So let us start today by encircling ourselves with truth, allowing all other implements to be added after this.
Ephesians 1:13 “In Him you also [trusted,] after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise . . .”
